Presentation of Minors

SNAP will be holding a presentation of nursing minors on March 16th at 12pm. Representatives from each of the minors will be there to present and answer questions about how to complete the minors and discuss available opportunities. This event will help students pick classes before preregistration for Fall classes.

RN Career Fair

SNAP is looking to hold an RN Career Exploration day on Friday, April 3rd from 12-1:30pm in Fagin Hall. Many students have been requesting to hear from nurses at the RN level in as many specialties as possible. Our idea for the event is to have tables set up in the lobby (similar to the career recruiting day) and students can visit different tables with different specialties. All specialties and work environments needed.

SNAP Blood Drive

Mark your calendars! SNAP is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, January 30th from 10am-3pm in the Fagin Lobby! It is HIGHLY suggested to register for a time slot in advance, as certain hours of the day tend to get very busy and walk-ins will be few. Those that donate blood will receive a point towards active membership! Spread the word - we hope to see you there! Semi-Annual Faculty Dinner

On Thursday, October 17 from 5-6 p.m, SNAP hosted another Faculty Dinner Discussion. In small groups, students got to sit down with various Professors, including the Dean over dinner and had the opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level and ask any questions they might have.

Give Kids Sight Day

On Saturday, October 5, 2019, six Student Nurses at Penn (SNAP) members volunteered at Philadelphia’s annual Give Kids Sight Day. This event has been put on for the past ten years by the Public Citizens for Children and Youth Organization, and to date, over 10,000 children have been given free eye screenings and two free pairs of glasses if needed. This year alone, our members were a part of a team of 400+ volunteers who screened over 1,100 children. Not only did these children get free eye exams, but they also received free backpacks and were connected to health insurance if they didn’t already have it. Our team looks forward to continuing to serve our community in this endeavor in the years to come!

MANNA

SNAP had the incredible opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA), a non-profit organization that prepares and delivers medically appropriate meals to our neighbors with illness in greater Philadelphia, South New Jersey, and beyond. SNAP sent a group of 12 wonderful students in both the BSN and ABSN programs, and together, we helped chop, cook, and package meals for those in need. The efforts of volunteers enable MANNA to provide and deliver nutritious meals at no cost, and we are so grateful that we could take part in giving back to our community. The experience taught us how food can be a powerful medicine for those living with chronic illnesses, and SNAP looks forward to returning back to MANNA again. To read more about MANNA’s efforts, or to volunteer at your own time, visit their website here: https://www.mannapa.org/
