John Barrett, DNP, MSN, FNP-BC

Dr. John Barrett is a School of Nursing faculty member and nurse practitioner who teaches both in the DNP and MSN programs. He recently began a new role in the Emergency Department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He previously practiced at Penn in Family and Sports Medicine where he saw patients in independent clinic sessions for musculoskeletal complaints and full spectrum family care. At the clinic, John onboarded and trained all new providers to the EPIC charting system. He also helped integrate clinical decision tools into well-child visits using templated notes that were implemented for over 50 providers. As a member of the EPIC sprint team, he was a part of a rapid cycle quality improvement project that helped providers decrease charting and increase patient time. Independently, he is developing a mobile application for clinical decision making. His goal is to speed the delivery of evidence at the point-of-care, consequently reducing the average time to get evidence into practice.

Dawn Elizabeth Bent, DNP, MSN, CRNA

Dr. Bent has been awarded the School of Nursing Preceptor award nominated by her by students and strives to improve patient experiences at St. Christopher’s Hospital. Dr. Bent believes remaining invested in the clinical practice of anesthesia is essential to excelling as an educator. Her personal commitment to the success of each of her students by mentoring and leadership contributes to her guidance of the next generation of CRNAs.
