Human Milk Is a ‘Life-Saving Intervention’ for Infants with Congenital Heart Disease

With a lower risk of serious complications and improved feeding and growth outcomes, human milk is strongly preferred as the best diet for infants with congenital heart disease (CHD), according to a research review in Advances in Neonatal Care , the official journal of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses .

Post-Master’s DNP Candidate Partcipates in LinkedIn ‘Future Leaders of Nursing’ Boot Camp

Cyd Charisse Villalba, a post-master’s DNP candidate at Penn Nursing, healthcare analytics specialist, and ANA-NY research fellow , participated in LinkedIn’s pilot #FutureLeadersOfNursing boot camp at the company’s HQ in NYC on February 8. Participants learned how to amplify their voices and make a positive impact in their own communities all in order to change the future of nursing for the better.

The appointment to Penn’s Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics highlights Dr. Lipman’s major areas of research including the epidemiology of diabetes and assessment of growth in children. She developed and maintains the Philadelphia Pediatric Diabetes Registry, the longest ongoing such registry in the country.

Patient Safety in Hospitals Still a Concern

Two decades ago, a landmark study by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) highlighted the prevalence of medical errors and called for a national commitment to reduce patient harm. Despite substantial investment by government and private institutions to increase patient safety, progress has been slow and uneven. A new study, published today in the November issue of the journal Health Affairs, sheds light on what more can be done.
