Taylor Giambrone
Where She’s Coming From
Giambrone returned to her hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 2020 after living in Pittsburgh for seven years while she earned her BSN and worked in the Pediatric ICU at UPMC Children’s Hospital. Since moving home, she has been a nurse with Nurse Family Partnership, an evidence-based home visiting program, at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health.
Communicating to Heal
Giambrone sees the Leonard A. Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program as an opportunity to help her integrate effectively the interpersonal skills she has learned as a nurse home visitor with higher-level clinical skills. She says, “My current role has taught me how invaluable it is to have strong communication skills in order to build positive, healthy relationships with patients. I look forward to being able to build on this skill set of reciprocal trust with patients in a clinical setting, increasing my scope of practice to where I can reach more individuals.”
Leaning In
The best nurses know they don’t have to do it alone. Giambrone received the advice to “leverage your network” from a former preceptor, and she has taken it to heart. She says, “Throughout my nursing career, I defined this advice as surrounding yourself with a team that shares in a similar passion and work ethic; being curious in order to develop stronger relationships; leaning on others; and identifying the strengths of your network in order to slow burnout.”
