Christina Salemo, DNP, RN, AGCNS-BC is an evidence-based practice leader with experience in teaching, quality improvement, and people management. She is passionate about helping to develop the next generation of nurse leaders. Dr. Salemo received her DNP from the University of Pennsylvania. Her doctoral work focused on the creation of programs to develop authentic leadership skills and ethical decision-making in nurse managers and clinical nurse specialists. She received her BSN from Villanova University and MSN from LaSalle University (Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist).

Innovation

Dr. Salemo was a developer of the Nurse Leader Ethics Fellowship for Nurse Managers and Clinical Nurse Specialists at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The year-long fellowship enhances authentic leadership and ethical decision-making skills in front-line nurse leaders.

Teaching

Dr. Salemo first taught as a Penn simulation instructor in 2012 and guest lectured in undergraduate and graduate courses for many years before becoming full-time faculty in 2019. She taught several courses in the undergraduate program before joining the DNP Program Faculty.

Clinical Practice

Dr. Salemo has clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, Trauma Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery. She was a Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 2014-2019 where she led change at the unit, hospital, and health system levels. She chaired interprofessional teams to examine clinical care, created decision pathways to improve practice, and utilized technology to disseminate evidence-based practice work to nurses at the bedside.
