Jessie Axsom is a native of southwest Virginia and earned her BS in kinesiology with a minor in biology at James Madison University (’16). She completed a two‐year post‐baccalaureate research fellowship in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Sciences at the National Institute of Aging before entering the Hillman Scholars Program in Nursing Innovation in 2018. Her research interests focus on the impact of exercise on transgenerational development of cardiovascular diseases in health disparity vulnerable populations.
