Dr. Dierkes completed his BSN, MS, and PhD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. His doctoral dissertation examined the impact of hospital nursing on postsurgical sepsis. He is a registered nurse and currently practices at Pennsylvania Hospital. His research interests include leveraging nursing resources to improve patient and nurse outcomes and reduce costs of care.
