Stacey Bevan Accepted Into Predoctoral Training Program in Interdisciplinary Methods for Field-based Research in Education

Stacey Bevan will be one of four fellows starting in the Predoctoral Training Program in Interdisciplinary Methods for Field-based Research in Education this fall. In this program she will hone her skills in conducting research that will inform education policy.

This fall Stacey Bevan will be one of four fellows starting in the Predoctoral Training Program in Interdisciplinary Methods for Field-based Research in Education, which is based in the Penn Graduate School of Education. The current five-year grant cycle runs until June 30, 2025, and thus far Stacey is the only fellow admitted from the Penn School of Nursing.

The goal of the program is to train fellows to conduct research to inform education policy with what works best for students from preschool all the way through college or trade school. To achieve this, fellows take interdisciplinary-based courses to learn about quantitative methodologies, experimental research designs, implementation research, and education policy. Additional educational pieces to the fellowship include an apprenticeship, seminars, and other trainings.

This fellowship coincides nicely with Stacey’s summer Design Thinking for Health Project, which looks at children’s access and utilization to mental health care in the USA from a policy perspective. Her final deliverable for this project will be a policy brief which concisely lays out the problem and has a few legislative suggestions to assuage the problem.

Stacey will receive the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Education Sciences upon earning her nursing PhD for participation in this fellowship program. More information on the program can be found here.
