When the World Health Organization named 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, they could not have foreseen that these professions would be called upon to serve on the frontlines of a pandemic. The Year of the Nurse and Midwives was planned as a year of elevating, celebrating, and advocating for nurses and midwives. While the pandemic elevated the expertise, compassion, and bravery of nurses and midwives, it has also taken a very heavy toll. The WHO is extending the Year of the Nurse and Midwife into 2021 and Penn Nursing is proud to once again join with the WHO and nurses worldwide in this celebration. We will continue to use the Year of the Nurse and Midwife as a platform to highlight the life-changing impact of nurse and midwives.
In honor of all that Penn Nursing alumni have done and been through in 2020, we are launching a Season of Giving to thank and honor you. In big ways and small, we hope to convey our deep appreciation, pride and care for each and every one of our alumni. Starting today and throughout the new year, we will be offering:
Do you know an alum who is feeling isolated, served tirelessly on the COVID unit, or has been working long hours to balance parenthood and work? Please take a moment to submit the name of a Penn Nurse who needs a pick-me-up! We will be sending Penn Nursing/Year of the Nurse and Midwife giveaways to the first 50 alumni to fill out this very short form. And watch your email for more giveaway opportunities in the weeks to come!
*Connection + Rejuvenation Sessions*
Truly connecting with each other and finding time for your own personal care is critical. Take a deep breath with Penn Nursing alumni and enjoy virtual yoga, meditation and art journaling designed specifically for nurses. Or, grab a glass of wine and join your fellow alumni for a time of virtual connection and nourishment as we share experiences and attempt to process (or forget!) 2020 together. Events begin in January.
*Learning + Growth Opportunities*
When your schedule allows and at any point in 2021, take part in Penn Nursing learning opportunities to grow your career. Asynchronous and on your schedule, we will provide free access to content designed to build your skills and prepare you for your next steps.
Thank you again for all that you have done to cultivate health and wellness for others this year. Now, we’re giving back to you! If we can support you in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out and share your ideas, questions or feedback. And, don’t forget to fill out our short form today to nominate someone (or yourself) for a giveaway.
Be sure to watch your email for more events and announcements in the new year as we continue our Season of Giving to you!
