Riegel Invited to Present at 2020 NINR Director’s Lecture Series

The series allows the nation’s top nurse scientists to share their work and interests with a transdisciplinary audience. This year, the lecture will be presented virtually via the National Institutes of Health’s videocast on April 29, 2020 from 1PM until 2 PM.

Penn Nursing’s Barbara Riegel, PhD, RN, FAAN, FAHA, the Edith Clemmer Steinbright Professor of Gerontology in the Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences will be a presenter in the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR)’s 2020 Director’s Lecture Series. She will deliver “At the Intersection of Self-Management and Symptom Science.” Riegel is one of three distinguished nursing scientists invited to showcase the breadth of their NINR research portfolio in this year’s series.

“My work intersects with two of NINR’s focus research areas, as illustrated in my chosen title. I’m excited about the opportunity to share my years of research studying self-care broadly defined to encompass symptom detection, interpretation and response as well as the management of those symptoms,” said Riegel. “I am hopeful that listeners will grasp the complexity of self-care from this presentation.”

The lecture will be streamed live and archived for future viewing. Please visit https://www.ninr.nih.gov/directorslecture for more information.
