November 13, he was honored with the national Lillian Wald Service Award from the Nursing Section of the American Public Health Association. The Lillian Wald Service Award honors agencies, individuals, organizations, or media, for depicting exemplary public health nursing especially through legislative, professional, or public advocacy. The nomination was based on his work in promoting global public health agendas and creating collaborative initiatives for myriad organizations to partner toward the advancement of nursing education internationally. The award was presented at the APHA 2018 Annual Meeting & Expo in San Diego, CA.
