Herman and Carladenise A. Edwards established the Armbrister-Edwards Endowed Fellowship to provide financial support to students pursuing a Masters of Nursing (MSN) degree at Penn Nursing, with consideration given to African-American students.

“I was inspired to establish this scholarship because as a healthcare executive, I find myself representing women of color in and out of the board room. There is a huge need for more female leaders of color, and we definitely need nurses in leadership who have compassion and clinical experience. This fellowship is our way of giving back to the Penn community and advancing the role of nurses in healthcare leadership.” —Carladenise A. Edwards

Carladenise is a current member of Penn Nursing’s Board of Advisors, among other volunteer activities at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a 1992 graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences and earned her doctorate from the Graduate School of Education in 1993.
