Philadelphia Department of Public Health
Although for the safety of students, patients, and community members we have suspended student involvement in all community outreach programs, we will forward student volunteer opportunities that can be done remotely. Students are not required or encouraged to engage in any of these initiatives. These opportunities are completely voluntary. Please contact the sites directly to sign up or with any questions.
- The Penn Health Tech committee is helping to source PPE equipment. They aim to crowdsource 3D printing and distribute materials and work in contactless pickups throughout the nearby area to deliver 100s of units in the next days, 1000 by the end of next week, and 10,000 after that. Student volunteers are needed for the following initiative:
- A driver will drop off 3D prints (disinfected after printing before bagging) and transparencies that would fit together as a face shield at a QC point to the student’s home. The nursing student would go through a checklist to validate. After a QC check, they would be disinfected, bagged, and left outside for a pickup and delivery to HUP.
