Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Teams?

Teams is both a collaboration tool and a video conferencing tool combined into one application. Along with the typical video conferencing features found in an application like Zoom, Teams also has persistent shared chats for meetings, full integration with Microsoft Outlook, and a collaborative space for teams to share files, to-do lists, and message boards, along with many other applications found in its app store.

Teams can also be used as a chat client allowing you to quickly message people throughout the school without having to write a formal email. This essentially allows you to message others without exchanging personal phone numbers, like texting.

Who can create a team?
Anyone with a Nursing email address can create their own team. Learn how to create a team here.
What should I create a team for?
A team can be useful for departments to have a centralized space to chat, share, and meet. It’s also useful to create a team for group projects both within your department and across departments. This allows for easy referral when looking for materials and communications related to the project.
Does Teams provide Canvas integration?
At this time, there is not a Canvas integration provided for Teams. If you would like to use Teams for a class, we strongly encourage you to reach out to the Instructional Design and Learning Technology team by emailing servicedesk@nursing.upenn.edu.
On which devices can I use Teams?
