i-Human Patients, part of Kaplan, Inc., is dedicated to enabling active e-learning in healthcare to promote the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care, and to ensure an adequate supply of healthcare providers fully trained in patient assessment and diagnostic reasoning. Access the site here.
At the School of Nursing, to support virtual clinical hours as needed, the i-Human pilot offers a variety of clinical patient cases designed for both undergraduate and graduate simulations.
The average clinical hours for each case is around 4 hrs, and this includes pre/post clinical time and the actual case. In order for faculty to ascertain case completion, all cases include reporting as well as detailed feedback on what students completed and the time spent on each case. This can be viewed individually by student or by cohort.
Upon request, this can be integrated at the modular level within your Canvas course as an LTI tool. To acquire proper Canvas integration, a series of steps will be completed by both the faculty and Kaplan, and this is detailed below.
Step 1: Faculty will determine the packages/case scenarios needed and submit to the School of Nursing for approval.
undergraduate specialty packages
graduate specialty packages by symptom*
graduate specialty packages by body system*
*These are available upon request. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Step 2: Kaplan will fill out the iHP Pilot Order Form.
In order for Kaplan to complete the order form, you will need to provide Nursing ITS with the following information:
- Course name and number
- A list of faculty and students and associated email addresses for trial account creation
- Number of students by cohort and the associated packages (e.g. one cohort needs only PED package)
- Course launch date and end date
