The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) has created a guide for University of Pennsylvania faculty with strategies, tools, and resources to help begin their planning. View the remote teaching guide

Accessing Canvas

All Penn Nursing courses for the Spring 2020 semester have been provided with a Canvas course to organize course content and assignments, and to provide an avenue for communication with your students. Access the Nursing ITS guide to Canvas .

Staying in Touch with your Students

In addition to the course Canvas site, each Nursing course is equipped with a class mailing list available through Courses InTouch , which can be used to send email messages to all students registered for the course. Learn more about using your class mailing list .

Using Integrated Canvas Tools

Accessing Canvas

Your course Canvas site is the central location for course content, announcements, assignments, and other activities. View the Nursing ITS guide to Canvas .

Accessing Penn Nursing VDI

Penn Nursing VDI

VDI provides Faculty & Staff access to a Windows 10 desktop and site licensed applications virtually, using any computer with an internet connection.   Learn more about the School of Nursing VDI Service

There are several remote desktop options available based on your operating system. Nursing ITS has created the following guides to help navigate these options:

Managing Email and Calendaring

Penn O365 Email/Calendar

Remote options are available for email and calendaring through Penn O365. Available options include Outlook configuration and accessing email through a web browser via webmail.

Access email online using webmail (http://outlook.com/upenn.edu)  - will need PennO365 credentials

Managing Phone and Voicemail

Penn PPS

The PennNet Phone Service (PPS) is a web service that allows you to manage certain telephone features and voice mail options from a web browser. This includes managing voicemail settings, forwarding a phone line to a different number, and other features.

Log in to PPS (http://pps.voice.isc.upenn.edu/)  - will need PennKey credentials

Collaborating with Colleagues

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a centralized portal for communication methods including instant messaging, team meetings, video conferencing, and file sharing. Teams is available to all PennO365 users (including at the School of Nursing) and integrates with other O365 tools such as calendars, contacts, OneDrive storage, SharePoint sites, and OneNote.

Blue Jeans

BlueJeans is a videoconferencing service that works on your desktop or mobile device. Meet and share documents with colleagues in any location. BlueJeans is available to all users with a Nursing account (meeting scheduling and sharing), and meetings can be shared with individuals at Nursing and externally.

Penn+Box

Penn+Box is Penn’s cloud-based collaboration service for securely managing and sharing files and folders within the Penn community and externally. Users can access, create, manage, and distribute content across various device types and operating systems.

Microsoft OneDrive

OneDrive is a cloud-based collaboration service for securely managing and sharing files and folders and is available to all Penn O365 users (including at the School of Nursing).
