Health Informatics Minor
At the interface of nursing and technology is nursing informatics, which focuses on managing information and communication technology to improve the health of patients and communities worldwide.
Our program
The emerging field of health informatics is growing in relevance and influence as technologies continue to improve. Our program focuses on concepts and issues surrounding technology and information management in today’s ever-changing healthcare environment. This minor is a perfect complement to advanced practice, administrative, and leadership Master’s programs.
Coursework
For the minor you’ll take following courses: Innovation in Health: Foundations of Design Thinking, Healthcare Informatics, and Databases in Biomedical Research. You’ll also select an elective course from a list of informatics and systems courses at Penn.
Certification
This minor meets the education requirement needed to apply for the National Certification Exam in Informatics (offered by the ANCC).
