Cohort and Student Engagement

Summer Intensives
The Post-Master’s DNP program hosts two in-person summer intensives that take place for 2-3 days at the end of August (of the 1st and 2nd year). This is an important time to build relationships and network amongst your cohort. During these intensives, you will also meet with faculty and participate in workshops on translating evidence into practice, leadership, scholarly writing, data analytics, and other essential DNP topics and skills.

Cohort Interaction
Your cohort take courses together, which means you will get to know each other through intellectual discussions, group projects, and study group activities. Each month, DNP Program Leadership host a Quaker Chat webinar for Post-Master’s DNP students in all cohorts. These webinars feature DNP-prepared faculty, alumni, and other nurse leaders discussing their career journeys. Each cohort has its own group chat and Canvas landing page as well.

Academic Resources and Support

Online, Asynchronous Learning
Our world-class faculty teach all Post-Master’s DNP courses online in a mostly asynchronous format. They provide flexible office hours to accommodate various time zones and schedules of full-time working professionals. We encourage you to continue working while in the program so your practice informs your learning and scholarship.

Library Support
The DNP program is proud to have dedicated librarians committed to supporting the research and scholarship needs of DNP students. They are available for consultations via BlueJeans and phone. Librarians Richard James and Sherry Morgan collaborate closely with faculty to help students working on their DNP projects and courses.

Optional Electives and Certificates
Post-Master’s DNP students may enroll in online courses at other University of Pennsylvania graduate schools, in addition to the courses in the PMDNP plan of study. The School of Nursing offers several online certificates programs that may be of interest to PMDNP students to add their DNP program of study:
