On April 3, 2019, Penn Nursing and the School of Social Policy & Practice held an event for alumni and friends in Boston. Deans Villarruel and Bachman hosted faculty members Dr. TJ Ghose and Dr. Lisa Lewis as they spoke about their work as Bland Fellows on the topic of incarceration.
The Intersection of Social Justice + Health: The Epidemic of Incarceration drew over 100 attendees and sparked conversation around a critical issue in American society today. Our thanks to the Penn Alumni Club of Boston and local event host committee members for their partnership.
On Thursday, April 21, Dr. Jose Bauermeister, Albert M. Greenfield Professor of Human Relations, and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Health at Penn Nursing, presented, “In the Cloud and On the Ground: Bridging the Lives and Health Needs of Youth,” for the 2022 Albert M. Greenfield Memorial Lecture.
Lauder, a Penn alumnus and emeritus Trustee, donated $125 million to the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, establishing a new program for aspiring nurse practitioners who intend to work in underserved communities.
