Penn Nursing’s 2022 commencement is in the history books. It was the first in-person graduation held in two years! The graduates, their families, friends, and the Penn Nursing community, gathered at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on May 16, 2022. We celebrated their achievements, their studies, their work, their honors, and we welcomed them among the ranks of the Penn Nursing Alumni.

When Antonia Villarruel PhD RN FAAN, now Professor and Margaret Bond Simon Dean of Nursing, was earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the late seventies, her classes covered the nuts and bolts of sexual health: sexual physiology and the management of STIs.
Penn Nursing’s Mary Naylor, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Heather Kelley-Thompson will both be honored by the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma). The 2021 International Awards for Nursing Excellence, Board Awards, and Honorary Membership will be presented during Sigma’s 46th Biennial Convention, November 6-10, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
