Hason Jafrey
WHERE HE’S COMING FROM
Jafrey’s home is in Wilmington, Delaware, where he’s been working as a float nurse at Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital.
Giving Back
Nearly all of Delaware is considered a federally-defined Medically Underserved Area, with many Health Professional Shortage Areas within the state’s borders—including Wilmington, where Jafrey works, lives, and grew up. It inspired him to find options to provide more preventative care as a way to improve health in his hometown. That’s what inspired him to pursue an advanced nursing degree at Penn Nursing. He says, “It’s okay to leave work to pursue higher purpose and higher education. My University of Delaware nursing professor Dr. Paula Klemm inspired me to never give up in pursuit of what I want.” And what Jafrey wants after graduation is to return to Wilmington to serve its underserved population in a primary care clinic.
SHARING GOOD NEWS
Jafrey’s first call upon finding out he’d been named a Leonard A. Lauder Community Care NP Fellow was to his eleven-year-old niece. He says, “Noor is my best friend—and my inspiration to be a better man.”
