Ellen Munsterman is a third-year PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health. She is supported by the Individualized Care for At-Risk Older Adults (T32NR009356) program. She is pursuing a dual degree in the Masters in Bioethics (MBE) program. Her research interests include hospital care of older adults with dementia and dementia-friendly hospital care. Her co-mentors are Drs. Pamela Cacchione, Nancy Hodgson, and Adriana Perez.

Ellen obtained her BSN and then her MSN as an Adult/Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist at Texas Christian University. She worked clinically as a medical/surgical RN and then as a CNS and coordinator for the NICHE (Nurses Improving Care of Healthsystem Elders)Program at a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She is currently assisting on her advisors study, examining the use of the PARO robot for older adults with dementia or delirium in the hospital setting.
