Colleen Mallozzi, MBA, RN

Colleen Mallozzi MBA, RN, is the Senior Vice President, Chief Nurse Informatics Officer (CNIO) of Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia, PA. She has a matrixed reporting to the CNEO (Chief Nurse Executive Officer) and CIDO (Chief Information and Digital Officer) for the enterprise. In this capacity, Colleen oversees strategic planning, design, and development of clinical information management strategy in partnership with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) to include the selection and deployment of information technology in the service of the clinical enterprise and the implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information systems, including the Electronic Medical Record, across the enterprise. Colleen is a key member of the IS&T and Executive Nursing leadership cabinets.

Colleen started her career in IT as a Technical Account Manager for Microsoft Corporation. She embarked on a career in healthcare, graduating from Drexel in 2010 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and working in the cardiac intensive care unit and electrophysiology lab at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for several years.

From 2017-2022, Colleen served as the Associate Clinical Informatics Officer for the Penn Medicine Health system, which includes eight acute care hospitals and a large ambulatory footprint in the greater Philadelphia region. Prior to her role as Associate Clinical Informatics Officer, Colleen was the Senior Director of Clinical EHR Transformation for Penn Medicine. She has also held a variety of informatics leadership roles at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania including: Associate Director of Nursing Informatics and Manager of Nursing Informatics. She has a deep knowledge of integrated healthcare systems gained through clinical experience coupled with IT and business training. She has worked to develop health system-wide strategies to leverage information technology and improve integration across the continuum of care, enhance clinical operations, and improve quality and financial performance. She regularly collaborates with IT and operational partners to manage and coordinate the planning and execution of clinical informatics initiatives and program deliverables. Her primary mission is to enhance clinical practice and patient care delivery by leveraging technology to improve the quality and efficiency of care. In addition to her BSN, Colleen earned a Master of Business Administration from Penn State in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems in 2006 from Drexel University. Colleen is Epic certified as a clinical content builder. She is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association. Colleen was the recipient of the 2021 Gold Foundation Champion of Humanistic Care for her work during the Covid-19 pandemic and the 2019 recipient of the University of Pennsylvania Health System Quality & Patient Safety Award.
