Kiera Carty, BSN, RN
Kiera Carty is a first-year doctoral student at Penn Nursing, a Presidential PhD Fellow and a Fontaine Fellow. Kiera earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from La Salle University in 2022. Being a Philadelphia native, Kiera’s urban environment and life experiences drove her passion for public health, specifically the incarcerated population. Clinically, she saw how social determinants dictate poor health outcomes in vulnerable populations. Her research will aim to tackle the social determinants of health, health disparities and the continuous cycle of disadvantaged populations suffering from healthcare inequities.
