Dear Colleagues – It feels like some time since I’ve been able to say this, but …Welcome back to Fagin Hall! It is great to be together again in our home base on Penn campus—and to resume in-person operations. It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome our returning students, faculty, and staff to this new academic year. I’d also like to welcome Penn Nursing’s new additions: 100 BSN, 83 ABSN, 65 MSN, 22 Post-MSN, 10 PhD, 41 Post-Masters DNP and executive leadership, and 28 Nurse Anesthesia DNP students. We have been waiting for you! Our faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to provide the best and safest educational experience possible.

Penn Nursing DNP Nurse Anesthesia Student, Josiah Borden, Named a Mazda Hero
This year, the Mazda Motor Corporation is celebrating its 100th anniversary by naming 50 “Mazda Heroes,” selfless individuals who’ve done heroic things for their communities, and is awarding each of them a 100th Anniversary Special Edition vehicle. Nominations from across the country were sent in, and among those selected for the honor is Penn Nursing’s Josiah Borden, a student in the DNP Nurse Anesthesia program.

Project Quaker Testing Program Key to a Safe Campus Reopening
A coordinated campus testing plan for COVID-19 that relies on saliva-based tests had its soft launch in early December. The large-scale COVID-19 screening program known as Project Quaker will allow COVID-19 to be tracked and mitigated at Penn and is an essential component for plans to bring students back to campus safely for the spring semester.
