Todd Myers

Where Are You From?

Janesville, a city in south-central Wisconsin

What degree program are you enrolled in and when do you expect to graduate?

I am enrolled in the traditional BSN program with an expected graduation of 2025

Do you have any other degrees, and if so, from where?

I studied at Madison College during high school, where I earned a Nursing Assistant Technical Diploma.

If you have a particular area of nursing interest, what is it:

I’m not yet certain which field of nursing I will ultimately pursue.

What do you hope to be doing in five years?

In five years, I hope to either be attending graduate school for nursing, working as a registered nurse in a field of interest, or both!

Could you share a fun fact about yourself?

A “fun” fact about me is that I spent my summer and the end of my senior year working as a nursing assistant in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility. I plan to resume my CNA position during school breaks.

The New York Fed, in collaboration with NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Low Income Investment Fund, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, hosted a virtual event on maternal health on September 15, 2021. Dean Antonia Villarruel served as an expert panelist for this event, outlining for providers, policymakers, funders, and healthcare leaders some of the critical structural barriers facing women and birthing people during the 4th trimester.  Access the full recording here.

  • Nurse Practitioner Clinical Settings Key to Delivery of Patient-Centered Care

It’s long been understood that care that respects and integrates the wants, needs, and preferences of patients results in higher ratings of satisfaction and improved health outcomes. Yet, several barriers still often impede the delivery of patient-centered care. A new study from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (Penn Nursing) shows that organizational supports for nurse practitioners (NPs) can enhance their ability to deliver patient-centered care.

Exploring Equity Barriers Before a Firearm Safety Trial

When evaluating the success or failure of efforts to implement evidence-based interventions, ensuring that implementation is equitable across populations is important. The need to attend to equity has been widely accepted but little guidance has been offered with regard to how to do so within the context of implementation trials. Before launching a hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial focused on firearm safety promotion in pediatric primary care, an interdisciplinary research team including investigators from University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern University, Henry Ford Health, and Kaiser Permanente Colorado developed a unique five-step engagement process to prospectively ground the trial in an equity lens.
