Where Are You From?

I’m from Rockford, IL.

What degree program are you enrolled in and when do you expect to graduate?

I’m enrolled in the ABSN/MSN Nurse-Midwifery program. I expect to graduate with my BSN in December 2022 and my MSN in December 2024.

Do you have any other degrees, and if so, from where?

I graduated in 2020 from the University of Illinois with my BA in political science and Spanish. I had planned on building a career in public health policy, but after researching social epidemiology of maternal mortality and morbidity my senior year, it became clear to me that my passions and strengths would be best served through the practice of nurse-midwifery

If you have a particular area of nursing interest, what is it:

Yes, Nurse-midwifery! The midwifery specialty and opportunities for research were ultimately what attracted me to Penn Nursing.

What do you hope to be doing in five years?

In five years, I hope to be a recent Penn Nursing graduate and be working as a Certified Nurse-Midwife. I would like to start in the hospital setting and perhaps move into a birthing center later in my career.

Could you share a fun fact about yourself?

I practice yoga daily, and a fun fact is that doing so has been one of my most valuable resources as I learn about the complex structure and functions of the maternal-fetal body. I am quite interested in research surrounding the physiologic and psychologic effects of yoga and meditation throughout pregnancy and postpartum healing.
