Katherine Pitcher, BSN
Bio
Katherine Pitcher is a T32 predoctoral research fellow in the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health. She graduated with her BSN from the University of Virginia in 2019. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in research examining the relationship between sleep and cognitive impairment and methods to earlier diagnose mild cognitive impairment in rural-dwelling adults under Dr. Meghan Mattos at the University of Virginia. Pitcher’s clinical experience in acute cardiology and in the cardiac ICU/Coronary Care Unit has inspired her interest in researching heart failure, self-care, and hospital readmissions. She hopes her research will someday be utilized to reduce costs incurred by the healthcare system related to chronic illness.
