Kayla M. Baker

Kayla Baker is a second-year PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health. 

Baker’s research interests include moral distress among nurses, nursing care of adult oncology patients, advance care planning, palliative care, end-of-life nursing care, how nurses can inform practices in research ethics, and nursing and ethical considerations of emerging technologies in healthcare. Her co-mentors are Drs. Connie Ulrich and Salimah Meghani

Originally from Massachusetts, Baker received her BSN and MSN from the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB). At UMB, she had the opportunity to teach and collaborate on research projects, which established her interest in pursuing a PhD in Nursing. Baker previously worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as an adult med/surg and oncology nurse prior to relocating to Philadelphia. She is also in the MBE program at Penn.
