Independent Study: MICEFA – Public Health & Medicine: The French Model
Course Description
This guided independent study is an opportunity to obtain exposure to public health and healthcare in France. The 4-week experience in Paris consists of orientation, a course in comparative healthcare practices, visits to hospitals/clinics and public health related institutions, and an observership at a partner university teaching hospital tailored to students’ specific interests.

- Counts as 1 CU (summer course)

- Timeliness of Pre-Departure Paperwork (5%)
- Annotated References (25%)
- Site Evaluation – includes multiple academic assignments (50%)
- Weekly check-in (10%)

Finances/Program Costs
The SON submits budget (course fee, travel and living expenses) to Student Financial Services to be added to student’s “cost of attendance.” may qualify for grants and/or loans. Note: Tuition for this summer-registered course is waived for undergraduates. Undergrads are only responsible for course fees and out-of-pocket expenses as noted below. |
