Dr. Paul D. Allison is President of Statistical Horizons and Emeritus Professor of the University of Pennsylvania where he taught graduate courses in methods and statistics for more than 35 years. He is widely recognized as an extraordinarily effective teacher of statistical methods who can reach students with highly diverse backgrounds and expertise.
Highlights
A former Guggenheim Fellow, Allison received the 2001 Lazarsfeld Award for distinguished contributions to sociological methodology. In 2010 he was named a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He is also a two-time winner of the American Statistical Association’s award for “Excellence in Continuing Education.”

Renfield Award Impact Talk: Dr. Vandana Gopikumar
Dr. Vandana Gopikumar, the 2018 awardee of the Penn Nursing Renfield Foundation Award for Global Women’s Health, in a discussion moderated by Alison Ercole, MSN, BA, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, shared about the impact the award has had on her work. Dr. Gopikumar is the Co-Founder of The Banyan and The Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health, a nonprofit with the goal of promoting equitable mental health amongst socially disadvantaged groups, within a social justice framework. Penn Nursing Professor Appointed to New National Committee
Alison Buttenheim, PhD, MBA, the Patricia Bleznak Silverstein and Howard A. Silverstein Term Endowed Professorship in Global Women’s Health in Penn Nursing’s Department of Family and Community Health, has been named a member of a new National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) committee that will assess future prospects for the broader use of behavioral economics in public policy.
