Penn Nursing Center for Global Women’s Health Announces the Appointment of Cathy L. Hawkes to its Advisory Board.
The Center for Global Women’s Health (CGWH), announces the appointment of Catherine L. Hawkes, HUP’74, NU’76, GNU’80 to its Advisory Board for a three-year term, effective February 1, 2023. As an advisory board member, Ms. Hawkes will provide strategic advice to the Afaf I. Meleis Director of the CGWH and the Senior Director of Women’s Health Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania and serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the Center. The volunteer CGWH Advisory Board will be comprised of nine experts and advocates.
A proud graduate of the first Health Care of Women and the Childbearing Family program, Cathy is pleased to return to Penn Nursing as a member of the Center for Global Women’s Health Advisory Board. Prior to her advisory board appointment, Cathy participated on the 2022 Penn Renfield Foundation Award Selection Committee where she supported the selection of the 2022 award recipient Gabriela Melendez Palaez, Founder of Asociación Corazón del Agua. Cathy is also a member of the 2024 Penn Renfield Foundation Award Selection Committee and will spend the fall reviewing nominations for the next award recipient. Cathy’s most recent work experience was in executive education at The Aresty Institute for Executive Education from 2007-2021 where she directed a global portfolio of companies in Europe, Asia and the Americas in the areas of leadership development, innovation, marketing and financial acumen working in close collaboration with Wharton faculty. In addition, she was responsible for the Wharton Nursing Leadership program, and several other programs charged with the preparation of nurse leaders.
