Philadelphia Inquirer’s 2019 Influencers of Healthcare

Tarik S. Khan, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, recipient of The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Influencer of Healthcare award for Excellence in Volunteerism. This recognition honors Philadelphia’s leading healthcare professionals who make a difference in their patient’s lives and the collective well-being of the city.

As he noted in his motivating address, “keep thinking big, dreaming big, and aiming big,” to solve the problems affecting the wellness of communities in Philadelphia.

In addition to his research training in the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health, Tarik is a certified family nurse practitioner, the co-founder and chairperson of Enabling Minds, and serves as Vice-President of The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association.

His research focuses on family caregivers of older adults with intellectual disabilities. Recently he began a research policy fellowship with AARP’s Center to Champion Nursing in America–an initiative of the AARP Foundation, AARP and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
