Year of the Nurse and Midwife
When the World Health Organization named 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, they could not have foreseen that these professions would be called upon to serve on the frontlines of a pandemic. The Year of the Nurse and Midwives was planned as a year of elevating, celebrating, and advocating for nurses and midwives. While the pandemic elevated the expertise, compassion, and bravery of nurses and midwives, it has also taken a very heavy toll on them. The WHO is extending the Year of the Nurse and Midwife into 2021and Penn Nursing is proud to once again join with the WHO and nurses worldwide in this celebration. We will continue to use the Year of the Nurse and Midwife as a platform to highlight the life-changing impact of nurse and midwives.
