Year of the Nurse and Midwife
The World Health Organization (WHO) has named 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife to recognize the impact of nurses on achieving their Sustainable Development goals for the world. This is the first time that WHO has selected a profession to be the focus of a “Year.” For example, there has never been a year of the physician, dentist, biologist, etc. This presents a unique opportunity to highlight, celebrate, and reflect on the global impact of the nursing profession.
Elevate, celebrate, and advocate!
Whether you are a nurse or midwife, a patient, family member, or a friend, everyone is invited to join us in elevating, celebrating, and advocating for nurses and midwives throughout 2020 and beyond!
We’re sharing stories about nurses and by nurses, hosting events at Penn Nursing and around the city, visiting schools and public spaces with a pop-up exhibit, collecting and sharing artwork from artists of all ages, and the list keeps growing. And we’re not doing it alone! We’ve partnered with a number of organizations and institutions in Greater Philadelphia who are joining us in celebration of all that nurses do, every day.
