Wendy Grube, MSN, CRNP

Wendy Grube, MSN, CRNP is a Lecturer and Clinical Specialist in the Women's Health Care Studies Program. She received a MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982, and although she is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, has devoted her entire NP practice to the provision of health care for women. She created Nurse Practitioner Associates, an NP-owned private practice in 1990, which successfully remained in operation until 2002. With a major work interest in cervical cancer prevention, she has been active in promoting the role and the education of the nurse colposcopist since 1988. Her major area of interest for research is in the prevention of cervical cancer in economically disadvantaged and geographically isolated women. Working with health care training agencies, she has provided lectures throughout the United States on issues such as contraception, cervical cancer screening and management of abnormal Paps, sexually transmitted diseases, and menopause-related issues. She has been elected President of the Philadelphia Colposcopy Society, and also elected to the National Medical Committee of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She was given the Miriam Manisoff Award for outstanding contribution to the role of the Women's Health NP. Wendy has also received formal education in Botanical Medicine and Homeopathy, is a registered professional herbalist, and currently teaches the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) course in the School of Nursing. She is the author of a chapter on endometrial biopsy in Varney's Midwifery, and the prevention of cardiovascular disease in postmenopausal women in Textbook of Botanical medicine for Women’s Health (in press).
