Welcome Preceptors!
Dear Colleagues,
In an effort to convey our deep appreciation for all that you do for our students, we have created this web site to provide updates on Penn Nursing, to share opportunities for you to benefit from your relationship with us and to give us a chance to thank you in very special ways. You are critical to our students’ success and we value all that you do for our faculty and students. Practice excellence, commitment to improving outcomes for patients and families, and demonstration of state of the science practice are the hallmarks of a superb preceptor. Through our joint efforts we translate classroom and textbook knowledge into tangible skills that will prepare students for advanced nursing practice, administration and clinical care.
We know that you are fully engaged in your own practices and are balancing all of the clinical and administrative responsibilities for your own patients and staff. Particularly now, in light of the rapid pace of change in health care, we are fully cognizant of how much mentoring a student adds to your workload and sometimes, even to your stress. We hope that our students, through their thirst for learning and eagerness to become outstanding clinicians and administrators give back to you as well in a meaningful way. Our clinical faculty who are your partners in education are also committed to ensuring that the students make a meaningful contribution to your practice while learning. Please connect with our clinical faculty, program or course leaders, and/ or with me directly if there is anything that we might do to improve our collaboration and your ability to help our students succeed. Your contribution is important, meaningful and appreciated. Thank you!
