Nutrition Minor

Welcome to the Nutrition Minor!

Nutrition is the past, present, and the future.

  • The first known vitamin deficiency, vitamin A, was described in the Papyrus of Ebers in 1520 BC.
  • Total parenteral nutrition, providing nutrients by vein, was developed at the University of Pennsylvania in the late 1960's.
  • The current world-wide epidemic of obesity has its origins in environment, genetics, social, psychological, physical activity, and nutritional factors.  Developments in nutrition during this century will revamp how future generations live and die.

Learn about all of these topics and more in courses offered in the Nutrition Minor.
Make a contribution to the nutritional welfare of others by participating in organized nutrition activities on campus.
