Peer Advising
(undergraduate students)
- Incoming first-year nursing students are assigned an upperclass peer advisor to help ease their transition to Penn and the School of Nursing.
- Peer advisors contact their advisees throughout the summer, participate in NSO activities with the new students, and are available throughout the academic year and beyond to answer questions and plan programs for their advisees.
Past Peer Advising Activities:
- Campus Resources for a Diverse Student Body and Peer Advisor Ice Cream Social: Peer Advisors met their advisees, took them on a tour of the many resource centers available to students, and returned to the School of Nursing for a Peer Advisor/advisee ice cream social
- Peer Advisor/advisee lunch during NSO
- Nursing 101: Peer Advisors got to know their peer advisees and showed them around the Penn campus
- Peer Advisor Pre-Registration Dinner: a chance for peer advisees and Peer Advisors to dine together and discuss spring courses
- Peer Advising Goes to Cosi: Peer Advisors had the opportunity to mingle with their peer advisees while taking them out for coffee beverages (sponsored by the School of Nursing)
