Getting your PennKey, Penn Nursing Email Address, and Penn Card
PennKey
A PennKey and password are required to access many of the University's resources, including establishing your Nursing email. If you have not yet received information on establishing a PennKey, please email pennkey@nursing.upenn.edu and information will be sent to you immediately.  If you have a PennKey from a previous Penn affiliation (i.e. Knowledge Link at UPHS, you need not create a new PennKey).  If you have a current email and have not passed it on to the Office of Enrollment Management, please email us so we can update our records.

Nursing Email
It is a requirement to open a Penn Nursing e-mail account.  Please do so immediately, and plan to access it daily.  E-mail setup can be found online here. You will note in the instructions that you can set up your e-mail to be read from your home computer.  We use e-mail to pass on important instructions for courses and update students on upcoming events in the School of Nursing.

Penn Card
PennCard is the official identification card of the University of Pennsylvania and is required for all students.  The PennCard gives you access to many University facilities.

Transfer Credit

A maximum of two course units or their equivalents may be approved for transfer credit. The process for transfer of credit must be completed post-admission but before the start of classes.

The student must submit a signed transfer credit request form along with the course description, syllabus, and official transcript of the course (or the transcript must be on file in the Office of Student Information) to the Office of Student Services.  The Office of Student Services has the course evaluated by the appropriate department.

If approved, the transfer credit evaluation will appear in the action column of the transcript but will not be calculated into the student’s GPA. No fee is applicable for the transfer of credit. To be considered for transfer credit into the School of Nursing, courses must have a grade of B or better.

Courses must have a letter grade; a grade of pass is not acceptable. In addition, the following standards are applicable:
• only courses taken in an accredited school are acceptable for transfer
• courses with a clinical component in which the clinical hours are counted for purposes of the regulatory and credentialing bodies are not acceptable for transfer
• to be considered for transfer of credit, advanced pathophysiology and advanced physical assessment courses must be taken within five years of matriculation.
• advanced pharmacology will be considered for transfer of credit only if it was completed within two years of the expected date of completion of the master’s program.
• transfer of credit decisions are at the discretion of the Course Director and/or Program Director.

Please contact the Office of Student Services at (215)898-6687 or advisor@nursing.upenn.edu should you have additional questions or need verification of transfer credit approval.
