Breast Cancer GBM:

There is a special SNAP GBM that is taking place NEXT Monday, October 31st, from 12-1pm!!! I am currently enrolled in Dr. Spatz’s breastfeeding case study, and have to partake in an advocacy project related to improving breastfeeding in hospitals. I am going to be speaking about the importance of breastfeeding, why it is important to breastfeed, and most importantly, CLINICAL APPLICATIONS that you can use in your future clinical courses, and future nursing practice! I’ve included things I wish I knew before I went into the hospital to better help moms breastfeed, like different equipment, techniques, and interventions that you can ACTUALLY implement by yourselves at clinical, so it is all super useful stuff! You will all learn about breastfeeding in your 215 didactic course during second semester of your sophomore year for traditional students, and in your pediatric course junior year, however you don’t know much NOW, so why not get started learning about it early?? We will also open the floor to discussion on any questions you guys might have regarding your first clinical (you get to cuddle with babies all the time so like life is good).

As always, there will be pizza, which I am also extremely passionate about, so it will be a great time. Mark your calendars, and I’ll see you then! - Sara Cerreta, BSN 2018
