Terri Lipman, PhD, CRNP, FAAN, Professor of Nursing of Children, has been awarded a grant from the Netter Center for Community Partnerships Office of Government and Community Affairs, University of Pennsylvania, for her proposal, “Endocrine Pipeline: An Independent Study exploring the course development and pilot implementation of endocrinology curriculum at Sayre High School.”
Penn Nursing independent study students will first build and then implement an endocrinology based curriculum as a pilot for the a future ABCS pipeline based on the well established neuro science pipeline. Through the curriculum Sayre students will attain knowledge of normal growth, growth disorders, basic gross anatomy, knowledge of body systems with focus on endocrinology, and medical intake. Sayre students will be exposed the extensive resources of the nursing school through the implementation of pedagogical diverse lessons at Sayre, Penn and in the local community. Penn Nursing independent study students and Sayre students will be engaged in real-world problem solving research opportunities.
