Dr. Janet Deatrick was awarded a $100,000 Senior Investigator's Award grant from Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for her proposal "Mothers' and Fathers' Perspectives: Family Management of Young Adult Survivors of Childhood Brain Tumors" This research builds upon Dr. Deatrick's RO1 on family management of children who survive brain cancer by adding data from fathers (mother-father dyads) and seeks to fill a gap in understanding about fathers needed to design future family based, tailored interventions that consider gender, health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and family management. The aim of this study is to explore the meditational effects of family management and the moderational effects of parent gender on HRQOL (self-report) and survivors' HRQOL (parent proxy).
