Post Master’s Options
Several post-master’s options exist for Nurse Practitioners (NP) or Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) who want to further their education. Master’s-prepared nurses who are Psychiatric-Mental Health NPs may wish to pursue preparation for the CNS role. Likewise, PMH CNS graduates may return to meet requirements for the NP role. Students who have obtained an MSN in other health care specialties may apply for the Psychiatric-Mental Health NP or CNS program. In any post-master’s case, an individualized course of study will be designed to meet both Penn and ANCC requirements.
The process is straightforward:
- Interested nurses apply for the program and submit transcripts.
- Eligible candidates are invited to interview with faculty.
- Prospective students consult with faculty to create an individualized plan of study that will meet both Penn and ANCC requirements.
- Complete the admissions process.
