Frequently Asked Questions
Do I arrange my own clinical sites?
No, Penn’s Primary Care Program has been around since 1973. We have wonderful connections with Pediatric NP’s throughout the tri-state area, many of whom are graduates of our program. To provide the best possible experience for every student, the Primary Care faculty arranges the clinical placements. Our alumni rate the quality of our clinical practicums extremely high.
In special situations, students who live particularly far from campus or in remote locations with be ask to help develop a contact list of potential sites.
Can I complete the program on a part-time basis?
Yes! Please, visit Plans of Study.
Can I work and attend the program?
While the faculty does not encourage it, we know that many students have financial responsibilities that demand that they work while completing the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. We strongly encourage a greatly reduced schedule during the semester that you are concurrently enrolled in N658 and N659. This semester’s requirements include 20 hours per week of clinical practicum, six hours of class time and preparation of weekly case studies
Many highly committed students throughout the years have successfully juggled work and family responsibilities as well as long commutes and program responsibilities.
