Phyllis N. Stern Distinguished Lectureship

The Phyllis N. Stern Distinguished Lectureship is awarded in honor of the Founder and past Council General of the International Council on Women’s Health Issues (ICOWHI), Dr. Phyllis N. Stern.  This lectureship award recognizes an internationally-renowned leader in women’s health issues for their contributions to women’s health and well-being. 

 In 1984, Dr. Phyllis N. Stern co-founded the International Council on Women’s Health Issues (ICOWHI), and served as Council General of the organization from 1984-2002.  Dr. Stern also guided the development of ICOWHI’s journal, Health Care for Women International, and served as its Editor-in-Chief 1983-2001.  She received a Doctor of Laws honorois causa degree from Dalhousie University for her development and leadership as Director of the School of Nursing from 1983-1991, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Qualitative Researchers. Dr. Stern is a graduate of the University of California, San Franciso, San Francisco State University, and College of San Mateo.  She is the author of over 290 publications, including abstracts, articles, edited books, and editorials.

Taylor & Francis Distinguished Lecture & Award

The Taylor & Francis Distinguished Research Award is funded by the HCWI publisher and is awarded biennially to a leading researcher in women’s health from around the globe.  This award was established to honor accomplishments and to highlight the critical need for research and ongoing scholarship in global health care issues for women.
