Nutrition Minor

Welcome to the Nutrition Minor

Nutrition is the past, present, and the future.
  • The first known vitamin deficiency, vitamin A, was described in the Papyrus of Ebers in 1520 BC
     
  • Total parenteral nutrition, a lifeline of intravenous nutrients for patients with intestinal
  • failure, was developed at the University of Pennsylvania in the late 1960's
     
  • The current world-wide epidemic of obesity has its origins in environment, genetics,
  • social, psychological, physical activity, and nutritional factors.
     
  • Developments in nutrition during this century will revamp how future generations live and die.
