LIFE Granted Pathways to Excellence

Living Independently for Elders (LIFE) has been granted a Pathways to Excellence designation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Pathways to Excellence recognizes healthcare organizations for positive practice environments where nurses excel and where they must meet 12 practice standards. The practice standards are: nurses control the practice of nursing, the work environment is safe and healthy, systems are in place to address patient care and practice concerns, orientation prepares new nurses for the work environment, the CNO is qualified and participates in all levels of the organization, professional development is provided and used, equitable compensation is provided, nurses are recognized for achievements, a balance lifestyle is encouraged, collaborative relationships are valued, nurse managers are competent and accountable, and a quality program and evidence-based practice are used.
LIFE, founded in 1998, has served more than 600 Philadelphia seniors. The program provides all needed preventive, primary health, acute and long term care services so that qualified older individuals may live in their own homes and communities as long as possible. LIFE is both a health plan and a healthcare provider.
