Dr. Naylor Receives Gerontological Society Award

Mary Naylor, PhD, RN, FAAN, the Marian S. Ware Professor in Gerontology and the director of NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health has been selected to receive the Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Productive Aging from the Gerontological Society of America.

The annual honor recognizes practice that is informed by research and analysis and research that directly improves policy and practice. Findings from Dr. Naylor’s clinical trials have proven that patients who were discharged in the care of a nurse-led transition team achieve better quality of life than those who did not receive transitional care.

Dr. Naylor’s contributions to the care of the elderly has resulted in her appointment to key national groups, including the RAND Health Board of Advisors, Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, and the National Quality Forum Board of Directors.

Dr. Naylor will receive this award at the Gerontological Society of America’s 65th Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego, CA on November 14-18.
