Kathleen G. Burke, PhD, RN
Program Director Nursing and Healthcare Administration
and Health Leadership Programs
Director, Center of Professional Development
Dr. Burke received her MSN
from Widener University and her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. She
has held a variety of administrative positions in the School of Nursing and the
University of Pennsylvania Health System over the last 24 years. Dr. Burke has
been the Director for the Center for Professional Development for the last
twelve years and in 2006 was appointed as Program Director for the Nursing and
Health Care Administration and the Health Leadership Program. Dr. Burke’s
expertise is in the area of leadership and professional development. Her more
recent work addresses leadership development in long-term care settings. Dr.
Burke is an advisory board member of the Johnson and Johnson Wharton Health Care
Leadership Program and appointed member to the Commission on Accreditation for
the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Teaching
In her
role as Program Director for the Nursing Administration and the Health Care
Leadership programs, Dr. Burke develops and directs the Nursing and Health Care
Nursing Administration and Health Leadership curriculum and is the Course
Director for the N748 Leadership in Health Care, N650 Health System Analyses and
the N653 Nursing Consultation courses. In addition, Dr. Burke guest lectures in
both the graduate and undergraduate programs in the area of leadership
development. Dr. Burke has published several articles and book chapters in the
area of advanced practice, health care technology, nursing education and nursing
leadership. |
