Sample of Students Projects Completed during Administrative Practicums


1. Product Line/Cost Analysis of a Renal Dialysis Unit- the purpose of the analysis was to assure a sufficient flow of funds to maintain financial solvency and provide a budget the could serve as a basis for management control.

2. Feasibility Study of a Clinical Nurse Residency Program-the purpose of this analysis was to determine the feasibility of implementing a clinical nurse residency program for nurses entering the surgical critical care areas without previous intensive care experience.

3. Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of a Restraint Management Program and the Utilization of 1:1 Care

4. Nurse Executive Management Program in Long Term Care. Assessment of the Management Skills needed by Nurse Executive in Long Term Care and the costs associated with the implementation of a management development program.

5. Workflow analysis of a Pre-Admission Testing Department in a major teaching hospital. This project involved an extensive analysis of the existing processes and the development of recommendations that were benchmarked against comparable facilities.

6. Pharmaceutical: Analysis of the marketing process and ratios used in response to the launch of a competitive drug.

7. Analysis of a Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and Monitoring Program in Occupational Medicine. This involved a work flow analysis and making recommendations for improvement.

8. Analysis of the Length of Stay in the Emergency Room. The specific objective of this project was to identify the areas that can be improved to facilitate patient movement through the emergency department.

9. Evaluation of the Effectiveness of using a Nursing Protocol for the treatment of Pressure Ulcers. This process analysis evaluated the staff's knowledge of the protocols, their adherence to the protocols and the effects of the protocols on the rate of pressure ulcers.
